Make a meaningful difference -
Volunteer with us!

  • Who can volunteer?

Are you passionate about supporting children and families as they navigate grief? Camp Knock Knock is a weekend bereavement camp dedicated to providing support & connection to families coping with the death of a loved one—and we need compassionate volunteers to help make it all possible!

As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive environment where healing can take place. Whether through meaningful conversations, shared activities, or simply being present, your impact is important.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and successfully pass a background check. While personal experience with grief is not required, many of our volunteers find connection through shared understanding. We also welcome former campers who are ready to give back and support others.

  • What will I do as a volunteer?

There are many meaningful ways to support at Camp Knock Knock. Whether you're lending a hand at the arts & crafts table, joining in on boardgames or activities like parachute & gaga ball, offering a listening ear, or helping prepare meals in the kitchen—there’s a role for every interest and skill set.

During our required volunteer training, you’ll have the opportunity to choose the activities that align best with your strengths and interests.

Many of our volunteers leave camp with a sense of fulfillment, knowing they’ve made a lasting impact on families navigating grief.

  • What are the requirements & accommodations?

All Camp Knock Knock volunteers are required to attend our annual volunteer training, typically held on a Saturday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, about one month before camp weekend. Breakfast and lunch are provided during training, and it's a great opportunity to connect with fellow volunteers and learn how to best support our camper families.

Volunteers have the flexibility to choose how they’d like to participate—whether that’s staying for the full weekend or selecting a specific time block that fits their schedule. For those joining us for the entire weekend, on-site overnight accommodations are available. A CKK t-shirt & all meals are also provided to our volunteers.

Please note: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and successfully pass a background check to participate.

Are you an experienced clinician or counselor?

Volunteer as a Grief Support Group Facilitator

In addition to our general volunteer opportunities, Camp Knock Knock welcomes experienced clinicians and counselors to serve as facilitators for our age-based grief support groups.

A core part of our weekend program, these therapeutic support groups provide children and their caregivers with a safe space to share, heal, and connect. Participants are divided into groups based on age (for children) and type of loss (for adults), ensuring that everyone is supported by peers with similar experiences.

Each group is co-facilitated by two experienced clinicians or counselors who bring expertise in supporting grieving children and families.

  • Children & Teen groups include age-appropriate expressive activities such as arts and crafts, movement, and guided conversations that help them explore and express their grief.

  • Caregiver groups offer adults the opportunity to connect with one another, share their experiences, and discuss the challenges of supporting grieving children while navigating their own loss.

If you are interested in facilitating a group, please reach out with a brief summary of your experience and check the appropriate box on our contact form (link below) to indicate that you are interested in group facilitation. Our Facilitator Coordinator will be in touch with more information!
