Our History

Camp Knock Knock was founded in 1998 in loving memory of Alisha Reis, a pediatric hospice patient whose infectious love for knock knock jokes continues to inspire joy and laughter. Originally launched through Home Health and Hospice, as a signature project of the Junior League of Champlain Valley in partnership with the Hospice and Palliative Care Program at UVM Home Health and Hospice, Camp Knock Knock continues to support grieving families in Vermont each year. Camp Knock Knock is guided by a dedicated planning committee and is solely funded through community grants, donations, and partnerships.

Our Mission

Camp Knock Knock is committed to serving our community by providing a safe environment where family members can continue their natural grieving process after the death of a loved one. This weekend camp will nurture individuals and families through partnerships, peer support, group activities, lighthearted fun, caring, and opportunities for freedom of expression.

Camp Knock Knock is powered by a dedicated team of skilled volunteers and experienced clinicians who bring compassion, empathy, and heart to every aspect of the camp experience. Many of our volunteers have personally experienced the loss of a loved one, allowing them to connect with families in a deeply meaningful and understanding way. Their commitment and care create the supportive, healing environment that makes Camp Knock Knock so special. Those interested in volunteering can contact us here: https://campknockknock.org/contact
