Schedule of Camp
This is an overview of what to expect over the weekend.
Friday
Welcome and Overview
Our program begins Friday evening with an opening ceremony and a shared meal following registration. We allow plenty of time for campers to get settled in their cabins to be able to ease into the weekend. Friday evening ends with some fun and entertainment.
Saturday
Groups and Making Connections
A majority of the grief group work happens on Saturday with morning and afternoon sessions. Children and adults are divided into peer groups to connect with each other and explore their feelings of grief and loss. When not in group, there are many activities and projects to choose from including indoor and outdoor recreation for all ages, arts and crafts, a life-size doll house, story corner, tennis, basketball, gaga ball, entertainment room with games like ping-pong and pool. On Saturday evenings, campers enjoy more entertainment followed by a campfire sing-a-long and s’mores.
Sunday
Memories and Goodbyes
Following breakfast, parents are invited to meet with their children’s facilitators to learn more about what goes on in the children’s groups at camp. The discussion also focuses on the impact of loss on kids during different developmental stages. Following this is an opportunity for parents to meet with their child’s facilitator in a one-on-one setting. Resources on grief and loss are also given out at this time including information about post-camp support and communication with camp director.
Our candle lighting memorial honors our loved ones and allows time for campers to share stories.
We end camp with a closing ceremony with some reflection on the weekend and acknowledging connections made.
